Here is the Midtown weekly crime report, for the week ending 10-26-15. For this report, Midtown is the area from 35W to Hiawatha, between 28th and 32nd Streets. The report is attached as a Word file and the text is reprinted below.

There were  16 Part 1 (most serious) crimes reported last week, down from 18 last week. I’m happy to report that violent crime dropped from 7 incidents last week to 3 this week-2 robberies and 1 aggravated assault.

As you probably have heard, an arrest was made in the Oct 13 homicide at Park and Lake. Gerald Nicolas Cepeda, DOB 9/3/65, is in custody at the Hennepin County Jail, awaiting prosecution.

Please let me know if you have questions about an offender or a crime. I can research records and get information to you.

If you are concerned about crime and don’t have an activeneighborhood watch block club where you live or work, you can make a difference by becoming a block leader. The next training is Monday, Nov 9, 6:30 pm at the Third Precinct, Lake and Minnehaha. Consider getting a neighbor or two involved as well; many hands make the load lighter! There is more information in the report.

Halloween is just a few days away so please have a look at the safety tips on the last page of the report. Let’s keep everyone safe on this scariest of holidays!

Earlier today, the Third Precinct issued a crime alert about robberies of person with Latino victims. You can see the alert in Spanish and English at CArobberies10272015.doc.

As always, I appreciate your comments on these weekly reports. What would you like to see included? I want the reports to be useful to you.

Please forward this report to anyone who would be interested. Thank you.
