Picture yourself – and others – in a Minneapolis park

Photo contest seeks entries by Oct. 15, 2010

The next time you set sail on Lake Calhoun, have a picnic in North Mississippi Park, or play a round of miniature golf at Northeast Park, take your camera along to photograph not just memories, but entries for a photo contest.

Sponsored by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB), People for Parks (PFP) and National Camera, Picture a Park is designed to highlight the life and times in Minneapolis parks year round. Entries can depict people, activities, nature and places in the Minneapolis park system. Snap a photo of a snapdragon at Lyndale Park’s Hummingbird Garden; digitally catch your son’s Catch of the Day from Lake Nokomis; or freeze frame a sled ride on the frozen Columbia golf course.

The contest is open to amateurs of all ages, Minneapolis residents and non-residents. Photos must be unpublished and taken in Minneapolis parks and parkways between Jan. 1, 2006, and Oct. 15, 2010.
