ere is the Midtown weekly crime report, for the week ending 10-12-15. For this report, Midtown is the area from 35W to Hiawatha, between 28thand 32nd Streets. The report is attached as a Word file and the text is reprinted below.

 

There were  15 Part 1 (most serious) crimes reported last week, down from 23 last week. Violent crime was again low, with only 2 robberies reported.

 

Please note that Third Precinct will be sponsoring a FREE training for people interested in becoming block leaders on Monday, November 9, 6:30 pm. Having an active block club focused on neighbors watching out for each other can improve your safety! See the report for more details.

 

We are looking for community impact statements on Dwayne Taylor, who has been charged with 1st Degree Burglary for taking items from an occupied home on the 2900 block of 17th Ave S. Please see the attached community impact statement form and criminal complaint.

Midtown Area Crime Report, Week of 10-6 to 10-12-15

Midtown is the area between Highway 35W and Hiawatha Ave, between 28th St E and 32nd St E

Summary

  • There were 15 Part 1 crimes during the week, down from 23 last week. Part 1 crimes include homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, arson, auto theft and larceny. Public information for all but the larceny (theft) incidents appears below.
  • There were two violent crimes; both robberies.
  • There were no homicides, rapes, aggravated assaults, auto thefts or arsons reported during this week.
  • There were no business robberies and no business burglaries reported during the week.

 

Targeted Enforcement Areas

Lake Street (West End) area (29th St E to 32nd St E, 2nd Ave S to Chicago Ave S) was a targeted enforcement area for street crimes this week. Strategies included directed patrols, beat officers, undercover details, Metro Transit extra patrol at bus stops, CPS meeting with management of a local business to resolve problems, requesting a camera and monitoring activity at that business, monitor activity at 30xx Clinton and business nodes meetings.

 

Lake/Bloomington area (29th St E to 31st St E, 12th Ave S to 16th Ave S) was a targeted enforcement area for street crimes this week. Strategies included directed patrols, beat officers, Metro Transit PD extra patrol at bus stops, , business outreach meetings, business nodes meetings, working with businesses to get more lights at 12th & Lake and requesting a lighted camera at 15th and Lake.

 

Part 1 Crimes in Midtown This Week (Excluding Larceny)

Robbery (2)

10-10, 1:25 am  4xx Lake St E (Phillips West neighborhood) Victim was washing his work truck in the rear of the listed address when he was approached by a white male and black male. The black male was said to be holding a small knife and demanded the victims phone and money. The victim had no money but gave the phone to the suspects and the suspects fled from the rear of the address. The victim was given a blue card and advised.

 

10-11, 4:18 am  29xx 14th Ave S (Midtown Phillips neighborhood) Squad responded to a call for a robbery of person.

 

Burglary (2)

10-8, 7:30 pm to 10-9, 9:30 am 31xx Longfellow Ave S (Corcoran neighborhood)Sometime between the above hours an unknown suspect entered the victim’s locked garage by unknown means. The suspect/s then stole 2 bikes from inside. No other info was available.

 

10-9, 12:14 am 31xx 18th Ave S (Powderhorn Park neighborhood) Officers responded to the listed location on a Burglary that had occurred. Victim stated that 2 suspects had forced their way into his garage and attempted to steal a bike. Victim confronted both suspects and they fled on foot. Victim reported no loss but that this was the second time this week that someone had broken into his garage. Some items were recovered from the scene for possible evidence.
