tour de fat

The Tour de Fat will once again be meandering and pandering through 13 western cities spreading the good word about the positive societal offerings of the bicycle, and will be stopping in Loring Park, Minneapolis on Saturday, July 10th!
Along with their exceptional ability to roust a city's inner-cyclist, in 2010 New Belgium Brewing hopes to drive their message even deeper by bringing Minneapolis the biggest, most enjoyable traveling bike festival imaginable.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Midtown Greenway Coalition, Minnesota Off-Road Cyclist, and the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota.

In addition to attending the festival on the 10th, there are two ways you can have even more of a blast at this year's Tour de Fat:

  • Become a local hero featured in the Tour de Fat parade by giving up your car in exchange for an excellent, limited edition Black Sheep Commuter Bike.  Email Zach Levis at New Belgium for more information.
  • Sign up to volunteer at the festival- spots are available between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and are going fast, so email Lauren at the Coalition today to snag a spot.  Don't forget about the free beers and TDF t-shirt that all volunteers receive!

Wanted: Volunteers for Gardening on the Greenway

gardening

The Greenway can't be beautiful all on it's own…..it needs friends to lend a hand every once in a while.  Want  to be a Greenway friend?   Help us whip those gardens into shape by spending an evening or two this summer weeding and mulching those lovely patches of heaven you pass by each day.  The plants will be so pleased.
The first fun filled evening of weeding will take place Monday, June 21st from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. near the Smith Foundry. Please let us know if you plan on attending or if you'd like to hear of future events.  Hope to see you out in the gardens!  Contact Theresa Nelson to sign up.
