Below is a post by Susan Hunter Weir about a funding challenge for the Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Cemetery. I would also like to note that the American Swedish Institute is also in the contest for this money. Neither are actually in Midtown Phillips, but both are in the greater Phillips Community and are important landmarks.
From: Susan Hunter Weir <email@example.com> We are thrilled to announce that American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation has named Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Cemetery as one of only 25 local sites selected to participate in this year’s Partners in Preservation program. Under this initiative, we are eligible to compete for up to $125,000 in preservation funding from American Express to help restore the fence. Please help us by casting your vote for Pioneers and Soldiers Cemetery. To vote, go to http://www.facebook.com/PartnersinPreservation. There, you will get instructions about how to vote. You may vote once a day from September 20th through October 12th. We have been assured that any information that you provide will not be shared or used to solicit funds but will only be used to ensure that no one votes more than once a day. You may receive one “thank you” e-mail from Partners in Preservation. Vote early, vote often, and tell your friends. If you are over 18, you are eligible to win airline tickets, compliments of Delta Airlines. Thank you so much. Susan Hunter Weir
