NINTH WARD BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: STONE’S THROW URBAN FARM
Have you been through the Phillips neighborhood and been confused about the greenhouses and small farm fields? You have discovered Stone’s Throw Urban Farm, an amazing business in the Ninth Ward that tills the soil throughout South Minneapolis and the Frogtown neighborhood of St. Paul. Stone’s Throw operated their own Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, and also sells produce at local farmer’s markets and restaurants.
Stone’s Throw provides a great example of non-traditional uses of urban land, but they are doing great work throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin with the establishment of their farmer co-op, Stone’s Throw Agricultural Co-op. The Co-op partners with farms like the Agua Gorda Co-op, to help farmers market and recieve fair prices for their goods.
Support Stone’s Throw by stopping by their booth at upcoming markets, purchasing a CSA or eating at restaurants that sell their produce!
