Bring your ideas to the first “Buying into the City” S. Mpls Homebuyer Tour

Dear South Minneapolis Neighborhood and Business Leaders:
We’re looking for your talent, ideas, and neighborhood passion to help create the first “Buying into the City” neighborhood tour for Minneapolis on Sunday, June 6th.  This first tour of for-sale homes, sponsored by LiveMSP and the City of Minneapolis, will focus on the South Minneapolis neighborhoods of Phillips West, Midtown Phillips and East Phillips, Central, Powderhorn Park, and Corcoran.
The tour will be held on Sunday, June 6, with an open-house/info session at the Midtown Global Market from 11 – 1 where participants can pick up tour maps, enjoy refreshments, meet with residents and neighborhood organizations (you!), city and non-profit staff with down payment assistance programs, and lenders and realtors to learn more about homebuying.  Homes will be open from 1 – 3 and participants can go at their own pace and visit the properties they’re interested in.

We’d love your participation in several ways:

a) Helping to select the homes featured in your neighborhood.

*     We want to showcase approximately 15-20 homes at a variety of price points, including some that have been rehabbed by non-profit developers.  We’ll have some criteria for the selection, but we would love your input on this!
*         We’d also like to work with Realtors that specialize in your neighborhoods.  If you have anyone in mind, please let us know so we can reach out.
b)  Staffing a table at the Midtown Global Market event with enthusiastic residents, information about your neighborhood/organization.
c) Marketing!  We need help getting the word out.  We’ll have a save the date flyer very soon and we’d appreciate any opportunities to spread the word on your websites, in your newsletter, through your social networking sites, sharing the information at meetings, posting flyers in neighborhood businesses, and any other ideas you have!  And please forward this email to anyone that we have missed.

We’ve just begun the planning for this event and will be following up via phone in the coming weeks for your ideas and suggestions.   In the meantime, feel free to communicate through email and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions 651-315-1478.
Looking forward to working with everyone!
